Klang Heritage Walk

Raja Abdullah Warehouse

A former residence and warehouse owned by Raja Abdullah Ibni Almarhum Raja Jaafar that was crowned by Sultan Selangor in 1854.

In 1874, the British turned it as their official government office. In 1895, this warehouse became a museum that accommodates relics and antics.

The warehouse was also be used to store tin ores and other commercial commodities that was carried through Pengkalan Batu at the coastline of the Klang River. The building is now a tin ores' museum.

Raja Mahadi Fort

This fort was built by Raja Mahadi as a defensive barricade against Raja Abdullah (his rival in a war over control of the Klang district). The fort was used as a vantage point to spy on enemy ships that sailed through Pangkalan Batu. Years later, the fort fell into the hands of Tengku Kudin, who was sent by the Sultan of Selangor to exact revenge on Raja Mahadi for failing to pay his debts to the Sultan. The battle, which lasted six months, finally ended with the retreat of Raja Mahadi. Since the peaceful settlement, the fort next to the present Klang Municipal Council Hall now serves as an impressive landmark of the state.

Kota Bridge

It was the first double decker bridge in Malaysia. Jambatan Kota Lama was given later to the Council in 1992. In 1995, the Coucil had spent RM 750,000.00 to strengthen the structure of the bridge and was conducted by Focus Engineering Company Sdn. Bhd. In 2oth November 1996, the Council had offeres a contract to East Company to build 58 souvenirs stalls to accommodate more ingenious to trade at the town. The renovation competed on July 17, 1997. The Council decided to turn this bridge as one of the tourist attraction to Klang.

Images below are some unique and famous old building in Klang.

Istana Alam Shah

Istana Alam Shah is the official palace of the Sultan of Selangor, located in southern Klang, the royal town of the state of Selangor, Malaysia.

The palace was built in 1905 during the rule of Sultan Sir Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah, who was the fifth Sultan of Selangor. The Sultan went on to live in the palace for 35 years until his death in 1938. It was also here that the 7th Sultan, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, was born.

Despite the Sultan having two other official residences in Shah Alam and Putrajaya, most royal ceremonies (such as the coronation of a new Sultan) involving the Selangor royal family are held in Istana Alam Shah.

The palace has 15 rooms and was built using wood and marble. In early 2000, extensive renovations were carried out by the then Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building was built in 1897. The building boasts a 43.6 metre high clock tower with a large dome. There are two smaller towers near the main entrance, both are dome shaped. It originallly made of copper sheets placed over wooden frames and painted black. These were later replaced by proper copper domes that were gifts from the Australian government.

Below is the best 10 photos compilation video. There are Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and KTM Headquarters Kuala Lumpur.

My media editing improved when I create this coffee table book using computer softwares such as Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. It gave me a sense of achievement as it is my first time creating a book designed by myself.

Travelling to KL taking photos, the designing process and printing procedures, I had a practical experience on creating a coffee table book. Through this project, I truly understand that creating a coffee table book is a gigantic task because it requires a lots of dedication, thoughtful arrangement of elements and critical thinking. All the skill I had learnt was very useful and it wil help me when I am taking the degree.
